« This is a historic day on the path toward clean oceans” enthused Boyan Slat, 22 years old and Dutch inventor of a machine, called the Ocean Cleanup, to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. After an intensive public campaign to find money support, his concept is deployed off the coast of the Netherlands in the North Sea. This is just the first step, by 2020 the Ocean Cleanup aims to deploy between Hawaii and California and removes in ten years the largest floating garbage patch in the world.
